What's the best?
APUSH For Success NorCal -- Respond to the following:
What is the best thing about APUSH For Success NorCal? Post your response AND respond to one other posting.
We get access to resources and technologies that are lost in lower-level classes. With a higher access level, we are more fully able to respond to the information we gather and are able to share what we have learned in incredible class debates that help us internalize the data we have collected.
I must agree, for I know that the information that I am internalizing with will last me though my whole life, allowing me to build on it and grow as a human being.
I also agree with you about the technology aspect. I think its important to attain the newer technology in a classroom but not too much of it; I think it helps with hands on learning.
The class debates are important in both participating and listening to what others are saying. By participating we stretch ourselves to think outside the normal boundaries, and by just listening we can gather the information we might have missed and see its importance as well as see the connections that others have made and how they got there.
I enjoy being part of a learning community that is striving to do their best and harnessing all the assets available to them so that they may reap the benefits as they go past this and reach higher goals as their lives progress.
I agree that something like this does sort of train us in a sense to set goals. Whether it be goals for our success in the classroom, or a great success in life.
APUSH as a lot of hands on learning and I appreciate the help I get from other students because working as a team is a great aspect of this class. Everyone all has the goal to succeed and its a great concept to surround yourself with.
It is a great thing to surround yourself with. Having people around you that are just as motivated as yourself is always going to push us harder, and having other people to learn with is important as well to help each other make deeper connections on a meaningful level.
I completely agree, it's so nice to be in a class/group where literally everyone is motivated to do well acadmeically and succeed. It keeps everyone working toward their goals, especially when we all understand each other and the stress of the class!
I think the lectures and community are the best. On top of reading the book, we can have students and teachers supply us with additional information not mentioned in the text. That gives us a richer education than most other programs. Plus I feel like everyone in APUSH understands that this isn't going to be a walk in the park, and that helps unite us. We can all laugh and share knowing we're all motivated individuals that aspire to do great things in our future.
As a group made up of student other than our classmates, APUSH NorCal gives us the opportunity to go beyond the textbooks and facts offered to make the connections between key events, why they happened, and why they ended the way they did. Access to different viewpoints than we normally might have is a huge advantage in our learning this year because it will help to expand the way we comprehend and remember the key events of history.
Further, by internalizing the information, we can apply the social patterns that we identify to modern happenings and see connections that we hitherto have been oblivious of.
Our classes are very small and this blog is a way for us to hear different views and perspective we would get if our class was larger. this is also an anytime resource. While we may only be at school for so many hours this site can extend our learning time and get help. Thank you for setting this up!!!
I think one if the best things about APUSH is the learning environment, where you are really motivated to do your best. And really, you have no choice but to learn in such an environment!
The best thing about APUSH is the small classes and how everyone is so willing to help their peers. It's great that everyone genuinely cares about being there. Also that it is so hands on and we're always doing something meaningful to further our education. Oh and that we get cookies and tea. That's pretty awesome too.
To me, one of the best things about APUSH is the small class size. I see it as survival of the fittest, and we're all the tough ones. I'm proud to say that I love the class! It's probably one of my favorites I've been in, because all of us as students have similar academic motives and the small class size allows us to get to know each other. I mean we even got to meet some Foothill kids! I think that's pretty cool, and overall I just love the connectivity of the class.
I love that we were able to socialize with an another school! The meeting was a lot of fun and I think it's great to have people you don't see every day to improve and learn with.
I agree with Chelsea. I think it's fantastic that we get the chance to interact with a different group of people, who still, at the same time, share many of our interests as a class. It helps to know we're not alone in this journey.
The best thing about APUSH is that the information is a lot less broad than it was in AP World History. I feel like I am actually able to connect with the information that I'm reading in the text; in World History, I felt like the reading was extremely monotonous. I also enjoy being able to relate to my fellow classmates on a historical level; we are all learning the same information and even though we might be retaining it at different levels, we are able to come together as a class and share our knowledge with one another.
I find this textbook to be much more conversational and engaging but I worry about retaining all the specific facts and dates that we need to cover by May. I think it is important to allow other students to help you; sometimes someone else's perspective or mannerisms make understanding a single event or a broad idea easier.
My favorite aspect of this class is the incentive to do well for your success in the future. I think making University banners helped many of us to realize that we arent pushing hard just for an A, we're pushing hard for a great score on our AP test and skills that will carry us through college.
I think the best part of APUSH is the small class size that we have now. It makes it much easier to learn without many kids in the classroom. And I like how both school make up one classroom. It was fun meeting other students from another school.
I think an important advantage of having APUSH is that we can enjoy the small class, individualistic approach in each of our classrooms and the larger, collaborative effort of a combined group with common goals at the same time. we get to interact with students who have similar academic interests and compare the success of our endeavors so far, helping us to learn not just from a teacher, but from our peers.
I'd have to say my favorite aspect regarding this great program would be how interconnected we all are without even noticing. The fact that we all seemingly got along so well and that, having just met, we shared so many common interests besides the standard of being in the same class is simply exceptional. That and the higher learning opportunities that the course brings along with it, are only some of the reasons why I'm really looking forward to continuing in it.
